It was a dark day four months ago in Soul Society when three of their very own captains were revealed to be traitors. That remarkable treasure known as the Hogyoku was taken away as Aizen, Ichimaru, and Tousen retreated into Hueco Mundo. And, while the members of the Gotei 13 and the Omnitsukidou watched Soul Society slowly fall, they were completely oblivious to a greater work at hand. It would be more threatening than the power of Aizen and his arrancar. They were known as the legendary Zero Division, and they would soon rise up against Soul Society. Someone had to stop them, someone had to do something, but would they be able to take on this deadly quad of elders?
In truth, the King has always had a hand in the decisions made by the Central 46, though they weren't directly his. A separate faction existed that acted as the sole medium between the King and the Central 46, a group of four elders who each represented the Four Noble Clans of the Soul Society (because the Shiba clan was stripped of their nobility, they have no representative in this anymore). Each of these elders have the age, strength, and experience to match, albeit overpower Yamamoto-Genryuusai Sotaichou in combat, and their status makes them important contributors to Soul Society's economy and internal politics away from the dealings of Shinigami. This group acted as advisors to the King and gave orders, along with advice, to the Central 46, swaying the workings of the Shinigami in their direction as to keep the powers in check, thus allowing their individual clans to thrive and prosper, while the majority of Soul Society remained underdeveloped and in poverty. Though they seem to only care about themselves and the clans they represent, this faction does lend a hand to the greater powers of Soul Society (the Gotei 13, the Kidoushuu, and the Omnitsukidou) as to not raise suspicion and keep them content and oblivious. It was the perfect set-up, especially since the normal inhabitants of Soul Society, those without the powers of nobility or being Shinigami, could sparsely do anything about it. Their unseen work brought these elders to label themselves as the Zero Division, a troupe of powerful Shinigami who would never officially exist yet would quite possibly wield the greatest power within Soul Society.
But then something came along that even their cunning, wise minds did not foretell: Aizen Sosuke. His wit and planning outshined their own, and they paid the price for not seeing the impending destruction in time as their only true link to the powers of Soul Society, the Central 46, was massacred. Because Zero Division never officially existed, they could not protest nor come forward and seek aid without coming under fire and eventually lead Soul Society into civil war (nobility vs. everyone else, basically). And so, the members of Zero Division simply waited for a new Central 46 to be elected so they could recreate the ties originally sustained between the King and Soul Society.
However, with war on the horizon after Aizen’s departure, along with his underlings Ichimaru Gin and Kaname Tousen, Yamamoto assumed control of what would normally be Central 46’s duties, forcing Zero Division to wait even longer. Yet they remained optimistic and assured the King that all ties would be reestablished in no time, and that time eventually came around. Will they finally make their stance, said to be more powerful than the Espada themselves. What are they concocting? What are their plans for Soul Society? With the war pending, will Zero Division rise once again to make even more problems for Soul Society? It’s up to you to find out.
