i wanna break free, i wanna make itA small seventeen year old girl stepped into the courtyard of Calloway Academy and yawned, placing her pale hand on her mouth. There were a few people in the courtyard, but it was still fairly early. The cold air nipped at her nose. It was probably the coldest it’s been so far this year. A faint smile crossed her delicate face as she looked up at the cloudy overcast sky.
She looked around at all the other smiling faces. Winter was her favorite season. The cold, the hot chocolate, fires, baking cookies, movies in bed, all that good stuff. Reslinging her bag over her shoulder, Kinsey Daring briskly walked over to a bench, away from all the morning hustle and bustle. She had never been a very social person, ever since her childhood. Keeping to herself mostly, she rarely talked to people unless they spoke first. Nevertheless, she was friendly. Not many people spoke to her though. Everyone knew her as the highly intelligent nerdy outcast girl.
Kinsey dressed warm today, expecting the chilly air. A black bomber jacket layered over a deep red scoop neck thermal kept her torso warm while a pair of light grey skinny jeans clung to her bottom half. A pair of black riding boots engulfed her feet and some of her legs. Black kohl eyeliner circled her blue eyes while black shadow covered her lids. A small clear rhinestone was adhered to the corner of each eye, adding a little sparkle to her appearance. Her cheeks were pink from the cold, with a bit of help from some blush, and her lips had a coating of chapstick to keep them from drying out. Her ink black hair hung loose with the blue and white colored part of it in a thin braid. It contrasted her pale skin.
Shivering slightly, Kins looked at the clock tower in the middle of the courtyard. There was about an hour and half until her first class started. Briefly she contemplated skipping. School just made her sick. Especially when others stared at her for getting and A on her assignments when everyone else got B’s and C’s. Teachers always pointed her out blatantly for doing well. She hated it. Skipping felt like a better idea the more she thought about it. Whether or not she would, she was still bored at the moment.

spread my wings and flylipgloss. powder. bronzer. mascara. eyeshadow. "perfect." callie devitt's finely manicured fingers hovered above the cosmetics that laid on her desk. after deciding, she picked up the pearly-white bottle of bronzer. in the mirror, her conceited face stared back at her. after some time, she uncapped the bottle. sparkling bronzer laid in the pot. callie dunked the small brush into the glitter and brushed her face. finally, after thirty minutes of make-up, she was finished.
where to next? the question entered her mind. browsing the school followed soon after. the courtyard seemed interesting to callie. the perfect place to go on a wintry day. she grabbed her coat and was out the doorway. five minutes later, she was out in the courtyard.
and so was someone else.
